This dramatically discounted development service will allow vendors to demonstrate their products at NeXTWORLD Expo in San Francisco, May 25-27. The program, targeted to launch Pencom's object-oriented driver development business, is an opportunity to have drivers developed quickly for a small, fixed-price fee. Drivers will be delivered in a binary-only distribution and are covered by no warranty or maintenance agreement. Pencom engineers will also provide support at NeXTWORLD Expo as available. The company is currently working with several exhibitors to produce driver prototypes which are suitable for evaluation and demonstration purposes only and provide an inexpensive vehicle for market testing and early product demonstration. With the driver prototype completed, the product can then be fully developed at a later date for an additional charge. "Pencom's early work with NeXT Computer Inc. and others in the development of NEXTSTEP '486 drivers allowed us to build substantial expertise in this area. We can now utilize that knowledge to accelerate the transition of product developers to this advanced environment," said W. Frank King, Pencom Software President. "As a small and flexible company with broad UNIX expertise, Pencom was able to react quickly to the NeXT market need by launching this program. We feel it is an extraordinary opportunity for the industry to propel the support of NEXTSTEP for Intel processors in the shortest time possible." Due to the value of the opportunity and the demand that has been generated, Pencom is limiting participation in the project, but hopes to provide support to all those wanting to support the NEXTSTEP environment. The deadline for scheduling driver development projects for NeXTWORLD Expo is May 15 and project space is reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. While unlimited copies of the drivers may be made for installation at the client's facility and installed on client machines at NeXTWORLD Expo, the software may not be sold or donated to other sources.
